Doing the Democritus thang...

Hey SuperSara at'cha here with ANOTHER  blog!! Crazy right? This is the 3rd blog I've done since school started. Well, I'll try to make them interesting but really, I'm running out of inspiration here people!!!! But today were gonna be talking about- yes, of course, atoms, again. But, my darling little nerd friend A-Tom is sick right now... he was making a device to see atoms more close-up. But, it exploded and little science juice droplets got on him and now hes got some really bad disease, so A-Tom, umm, I hope your having fun there! But I have another dude were gonna focus on today... DEMOCRITUS!! (hee hee weird name right?)

Okay so Democritus is dead now, obviously, he was alive 2400 years ago! So my friend Moby is going to play the part of Democritus! You can see moby at the top of this post. Okay moby take it away!

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep...beep.

Translation:  Democritus was a good greek man. Basically, without him... well, what atom? X-) Democritus was born in Abdera, Thrace, Greece. His theory of the atomic model was just like ours, but had less detail which scientists later found out about in the future.  Many consider Democritus to be '"The father of modern science" He was the one who said that atoms are made up of mostly empty space. He stated that everything int he world was made up of atoms. Without Democritus we would know nothing about atoms.

Haha... glad I knew a good translator site... Tim's the only one who can understand moby! Well I will see you on my next blog post!! SuperSaraSuperBye!!

Meet A-tom

Hey.. SuperSara at'cha with a another SuperPost about .... ATOMS!! Cool, right? Well, I have invited my friend A-Tom (shown above)  to teach us some things about Atoms!!! Ok, A-Tom, take it away!

Ok well, before we talk about anything else, lest go over a few vocablulary.

  •  Electron-  A subatomic particle with a negative charge
  •  Proton- A subatomic particle with positive charges
  • Neutron- A subatomic particle with neutral charges
  • Atom- A extremely small unit, found in everything in the world.
Well, atoms have a very interesting story. In 4000 B.C a guy named Democritus said that all things in the world were made of small particles.. atoms. people thought he was crazy! Nobody spoke of atoms until 1803 when a young man named John Dalton said that all things have a different atomic weight.. therefore there had to be atoms inside different objects. J.J Thompson Discovered that these atoms had different particles in them, that had either positive or negative charges to cancel each other out! We are still figuring out things about atoms today!! back to SuperSara

Well, hope you learned a thingy or 2 about atoms.. I'll keep you posted on what happening in the SuperSaraScienceWorld!! Peace out!

The Greatest Invention EVAR!!!!!!! (for the south anyways....)

Hey, SuperSara at'cha here with another post ( I know, its been a while), about (drum roll, *please*) INVENTIONS!!!!! (CHE!CHE!, my friends will know what I'm talking about). I think the greatest invention ever is AIR CONDITIONING. And yes, without electricity, there would be no air conditioning, but my friend is doing electricity, so she would kill me for copying, so, FATIMA YOU CANT BLAME ME!!!!! ha ha, OK now I'm gonna get to the point.

I think air conditioning started with this caveman dude just being, like, super hot. And so he's dying out there, sweating like crazy, and hes all, "maybe I just wave this piece of rock around, (as a book would do), and it will make wind to make me cooler!!"

And there, about a thousand years later, when people are tired of waving rocks around for air, this guy attaches straight pieces of wood to a circular piece of wood, and has some not-the-smartest-guy turn it around for him, almost like an electric fan ( yes, you would need electricity, Fatima).

Then sometime in the future, this guy comes up with electricity. In 1882, Phillip Diehl introduced the first electric ceiling fan. That eventually evolved into air conditioning invented by Willis Haviland Carrier in 1902. Air conditioning is one of my favorite things because SuperSara gets a little grumpy when she's too hot... haha well there is a funny link below about inventions that you should enjoy (hopefully...jk you probs will)

Well...... SuperSaraSuperBye!!!! (heehee, seriously, gtg l8r)
