Property of Sir Wave Length Medium- Amplitude of Frequency Town in Hertzville

Hey guys... guess what? I have this thing. A thing that makes it the hardest possible task in to world to do when you have to write a blog: WRITERS BLOCK.

So yeah... Today I will be talking about Wave Properties. Thus my insanely weird title. Okay so let's go over some vocab words...

Frequency: The number of times a wave passes a given point in one second. It's measured in hertz, or waves p/s. Frequency is also related to wavelength. A wave with a shorter wavelength will have a higher frequency, and vice versa. So let's say they wanted to see what the frequency of a wave was. If the wave passed the point 8 times in one second, the frequency would be 8. Easy as pie... or finding the frequency of a wave...

Amplitude: Distance between the crest and midpoint of a wave. The amplitude is also the measure of how much energy a wave is carrying- more energy means a higher amplitude. A large sound wave is more likely to hurt your ears because it has a greater amplitude.

Steps to get this photo
Step 1: Download brainpop app and watch video on your phone.
Step 2: Take screenshot at appropriate part of video.
Step 3: Go into your photo library and crop the photo.
Step 4: Email it to yourself and attach it to blog via the internet.

Next were going to talk about... FIREWORKS!!! Did you know that the reason that you hear a fireworks display before you see it is because sound travels at 343 meters p/s, while light travels at about 300 million meters p/s, which is pretty blooming fast (only the people who saw the lights video in my last blog will get that one).

Okay, so the speed of a wave can be caused by many different things. The formula for speed is speed= distance/time. So all of these factors determine how fast a wave is!

A picture that really sums everything up!

Okay guys well that is my blog...hmm... for some reason I typed "long" and had to go back and fix it.. SuperSaraSuperBye!

I have decided that Caroloke's birthday is August 17th. It's the first date that popped in my head.

I "wave" to You Hello

Hey guys, SuperSara here, and today I'm going to be talking about waves. Well that was a really boring intro, wasn't it? Oh well. So today we have to talk about the relationship between waves, energy, and matter. I haven't learned this yet, so PLEASE bear with me. By the end of the blog we both will know more!

Okay, so during every moment of our lives, we are struck with waves of energy. Most energy waves collide with us or pass right through us, and we don't even notice. Another big part about waves is matter. Waves carry energy, not matter.  But, matter can be used to transfer waves. Let's go over a few vocab words.

Mechanical Waves:  Waves that use matter to transfer energy. Water, sound, and earthquake waves are examples.
Medium: The matter used to transport waves. Mediums can either be solid, liquid, or gas.

The Medium here woud be water; This is an example of a mechanical wave.

Electromagnetic waves: Waves that do not require matter to transfer energy are electromagnetic waves. Radio waves, x-rays, microwaves, and visible light waves are examples. They can all travel through empty space and all travel at the same speed, which is sometimes called the speed of light.

Now let's talk about tranverese/ longitudinal (I prefer to call them tuna) or compression waves. Mechanical waves can be classified into either one according to the motion of matter involved, while electromagnetic waves are a special type of transverse wave.

Tuna or Compression waves: Mechanical waves in which medium matter moves forward and backward in the same direction the wave travels.

A slinky is an example of L/C waves

Transverse waves: These can be classified into Mechanical waves, and yet electromagnetic are a special type of transverse. Matter moves up and down or back and forth at right angles, compared to the direction of movement.

Now for a short little story about Leonardo Da Vinci.

Once upon a time, in the fifteenth century, Da Vinci was sitting in his office, and he observed an observation about waves. (because that's totally not what this blog is about ;) He observed that while waves move, the medium does not. He then stood up and said "Like the waves made in a field of grain by the wind, where we see the waves running across the field while the grain stays in place." He basically meant that waves move the medium.

Here is a really cool video by the most awesome british guy on youtube, Charlieissocoollike. In this video, he talks about lights, but he also has some pretty cool stuff to say about waves too.  And yes, I know, the video sticks out of the frame. That is my blog. Oh well. Live on your lives, people.

Well, that is really it for this blog, and I hope you enjoyed. Below you will find some links. SuperSaraSuperBye!!

A very special thanks to teebs for reminding me! Happy Caroloke day!

I haven't showered since last year ;)

Well, hi. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, all that stuff, because well, I have to say it. Ummmmmmmm I hope everyone had a good break, mine was pretty usual. Welcome to the first blog post of the year, since it's 2012 now... yippee doo.

Well Christmas in my opinion is the best holiday of the year (besides my birthday, which ahem, as of January 3rd it is 4 months and 24 days away!) You get to see your family, get really awesome presents, and you get to buy a tree! And glee's annual Christmas album comes out! :) And their Christmas episode! Another thing I love about Christmas is that all my favorite shows have Christmas themed episodes, which are fun to watch on Christmas eve, or even the weeks before that to just get you excited about it!

Okay, so I'm basically gonna talk about my holidays:

CHRISTMAS EVE:

Well for Christmas eve My dad and I always go to my Uncle and Aunt's house in Athens. My dad brought his friend and her daughter who's about my age, and she was nice, even though she was on her phone the whole time. But anyways, we got there and ate a smaller dinner than usual, but still big, Christmas dinner. After that we opened presents and I got about $70, a vera bradley bag (that I now keep my NEW LAPTOP in!!!!), and a starbucks card! Yum!

The EXACT  bag I got.

After that we played Mario Kart, and I PWNED. NEVER DOUBT HOW AWESOME I AM AT MARIO KART. Never. Then we played Taboo, and made the horrible, awful, no good choice of being the score keeper, and everything "was my fault". We ended up spending the night.

Me with a mario kart wheel on my face :)

CHRISTMAS DAY:

Well, I slept in that day, later than I was supposed to, and the rest of my family at my mom's house opened gifts without me, and there was still and hour and a half drive back there. So, overall, I was tired and depressed. On the way there we listened to Christmas music, and it was fun and got me in the spirit. We got to my mom's house finally, Starbucks in hand. When I got there, there were still some presents for me, and I ended up getting a glee calendar ad sweatshirt, a couple of shirts, and a new flat iron! Yay!

One of the t-shirts I got. Funny right?

After that I watched a movie (The Help, and it was pretty good.) a basically chilled out until Christmas dinner which consisted of chicken and potatoes! Yum!
I had to!!!!

NEW YEARS EVE/ DAY:

For New years eve I was invited to my friend Zoe's Party, along with her friends Isa and Mcall, and her brother Jeremy and his friend Jesse. When I got there we pigged out on candy, and then they ate zours, aka the candy that makes my head bleed (yeah don't ask) right in front of me, and we also did mad libs, with some hilarious fill-ins. At about 10 I was getting really tired, so we deciced to go to starbucks.

Isa, Mcall, Me, and Zoe.

 "The Isa Smile"

After we convinced Zoe's dad to take us, Mcall and I went to get everyone delicious coffee drinks, while Zoe and Isa stayed home with the guys to make sure they didn't blow anything up (I'm not kidding). I got a frappucinno and on the way home Jesse's hot cocoa spilled on my pants and they made fun of me for it... sigh... so kindergarden. Anyways, at midnight we watched the ball drop and 2012 began. Which brings me to my next topic....

LOOK! It says 2012 with our fingers!

NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS:

1. To make good grades, blah blah blah.
2. To not let high school change me, because I'm pretty awesome, and modest too! ;) hehe
3. To not lose friends.
4. To still love my family as much as I do right now :)
5. To not let friend's bad habits affect me.
6. To care less what people think about me or anything I do.
7. To be positive, and try not to yell at anyone.

This year I'm looking forward to going to high school (squeal), but I'll be very sad to leave Shreiner! I really hope these last five months will be super fantabulistiicious, and that my grades are good enough to graduate. See you next time! SuperSaraSuperBye!!!
Good 'ol Caroloke.
