Yeah I really don't know what the title has to do with lights (which is what were talking about today by the way), but, I mean, if you see clearly and the rain has gone, wouldn't the light come out? Just saying...
Well anyways today were gonna be talking about lights. Light is (as approved by the dictionary... or my science book I guess..?) electromagnetic radiation that YOU CAN SEE. You know how I talked about the electromagnetic spectrum? (which you can find here) Well, on the ES, there's a section called visible light, which again, we will be talking about today. Now, you're probably dying to ask how light travels, and where some sources come from? I know, I was too ;)

Where does light come from? Well, the sun obviously (like Mr. Sun as seen above) shines reeeaaaallllyyy bright. The sun is a natural source of light. Some animals even make natural light, like little fish that live at the bottom of the ocean, called angler fishes.
Aw! I'm sure some of them are nice :)
Now some of you may be thinking that the moon is a natural source of energy. But alas, that's wrong. The moon just always reflects light from the sun. Sorry!

Now were going to talk about some things that light can do. It has many "powers", per say, like traveling for example. Light travels at 186,000 miles per second (that's 360 million miles an hour), and it's the fastest thing us humans know to exist. We haven't traveled at the speed of light, but we've gone "very very nearly almost as fast" (credit to charlieissocoolike in his lights video).
It's supposed to be a running light bulb, okay? Geez, people.
Another thing I'm gonna talk about is color. Everyone likes color, in pictures, in clothes (except for this crazy color trend that's going on... me, I prefer to wear blue) and pretty much everything else! But do you ever wonder where colors come from? Well, they come from light.

The colors we see are actually white light. These white light waves that are visible to the human eye, and we see them as the colors red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. The colors of the rainbow! NOW THE PICTURES ABOVE MAKE SENSE!
So, if all the colors are in white light, how can we tell what color is which? How can you tell this font is purple? How can you tell my shirt is navy blue? Well, actually.... nevermind about the shirt thing. Anyways, the answer to that question is because light get absorbed! If my shirt is blue it's because all the colors (roygbiv) are absorbed but blue, which is reflected off the shirt! So I guess it'd be more a roygiv, because the blue is reflected.... (just a nice science joke for you guys out there).
When you think about colors, and where they come from, it can be kind of confusing. But hopefully now you know, and I explained well enough. Now if you're wondering, "Is this like, some kind of reflection paragraph or something?" Well, YES, it is a reflection paragraph, because, I talked about how materials reflect colors up there^. See what I did there?? Hehe.
